Didn’t we have a lovely time the night we went t’Lescar! You bet your bottom brass we did, last Tuesday’s May Words Aloud was an absolute smasher with more variety on show than you can shake your big variety-stick at.

We had beautiful prose, laugh-out-loud poems, sit-and-have-a-think-about-the-world poems. We had politics (politics!), sing-a-alongs and poetry to music. We had chuffin’ all sorts – and it were ace. Thank you to all who came down to perform, support, encourage, whoop and holler!

So what now, folks?

Well, for kick-off you can check out all the piccies from Tuesday night, snapped as ever by the man with massive lens, Gavin Cockrem – check out his other work n’all.

Then we’ve got the next Words Aloud, which is part of Peace in the Park and takes place on 14 June in Sheffield’s Ponderosa Park – read all about it.

Oh, and the much-mentioned Words Aloud Podcast #2 has finally been recorded, is currently being edited and will hopefully be with you soon – keep your eye out for that.

And then, at the end of the month, we’ve got June’s (proper) Words Aloud, which, and make sure this one sticks in the ol’ brainbox, is on the last Wednesday, which by our reckonin’ is the 25th.

That’s all for now. Remember, if you would like to perform at Peace in the Park or June’s Words Aloud, or if you have nice things to say to us, email info@wordsaloud.org and we’ll be nice right back.

That’s it!

We had a jam-packed night of performances that tickled our literary taste buds and left us all warm and gooey inside. A bit like a Rolo, or something.

Part one kicks off with Iain’s tribute to E.A. Markham and ends with John Turner whipping out his guitar and the audience into a folk frenzy. Enjoy!
