It’s well worth the wait though as Joanne Mateer, our blackboard custodian and Words Aloud crew member, chats to one of our regular performers, Richard Crowther. Last year, Richard spent some time in the US and took part in poetry slams in New York and Seattle.

Here, he discusses his experience perfoming in America and its similarites and differences to the UK. It’s a right riveting listen and a highly recommended way to spend twenty minutes of your time.

And now the final part of April’s Words Aloud, with some more memorable performances, from Tom’s rap extravaganza and Mud’s silent performance (which doesn’t transfer well to this audio recording) to Kaimani’s closing adaptation of a Benjamin Zephaniah poem.
