Mum
Mum I miss you
I wish you were here
To say the things
That I need to hear
I love to hear you laugh
and tell me your story
of your life in Jamaica
In all it’s glory
You had so much Love
You had so much wisdom
You gave all of yourself
Whether you were sick or in good health
When you were gone
There was a big hole left behind
My life wasn’t the same
I had sad thoughts in my mind
I hope you are not disappointed
With the life i have lead
These things happen for a reason
But i am a survivor on the mend
It’s been 9 years since you past away
To rest in a better place
I think of all the good times with you
with a smile on my face
Preparing the Dinner Party
I find myself repeating
while i’m sorting out the seating
of my dinner party tonight
am i gonna get it right?
guests are arriving shortly
i think there are around forty
of the people i am expecting
while i’m pondering and reflecting
this big dinner i am preparing
of tuna and herring
served with rice that’s so nice
especially added with spice
so now i am finished,
the hard work is done.
the hostess needs a strong drink.
and it’s time for some fun
No cock ups, so i can relax
it all went really well
did they all enjoy it
well i’m so drunk, i couldn’t really tell.
What I Like to Do
I like to dance
i like to sing
i like to read
because of the joy it brings
i like to travel
i like to see
what i can give to the world
and what it gives back to me
i want to learn
i want to experience
i have the time
i have the patience
i like a challenge
and i welcome change
i tend to take the plunge
is that really so strange?
