Spoken Word Antics: open mic + Linda Lee Welch and Tina McKevitt
8.30pm, upstairs at the Red Deer on Pitt St, Sheffield. Turn off West St. onto Mappin St., and Pitt St. is the second on the left. £2/£1 donations.
Linda Lee Welch performs Flossie Paper Doll, a new sequence of short poems set in an unnamed seaside town, with musical accompaniment from The Only Michael (eletronics) and Andy Weaver on guitar and melodica. Tina McKevitt presents ‘The Last Time I Saw Joe’, a dramatised love story set against the background of the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin. Open spots (5 mins max) also available for you to come and perform your own poetry, stories, urban fairytales… or just stuff you like. A new free weekly event of acoustic music and spoken word. Expect a chilled out, candlelit atmosphere fuelled by the best acoustic artists, poets, and speakers from Sheffield and around the UK. Fans of Opus unplugged at The Riverside Cafe will especially enjoy these events. The Green Room is a centrally located bar/venue perfect for a few quiet drinks whilst listening to excellent music. Come down and check it out.
